![]() I actually bought a dungeon-synth album from their Bandcamp site. According to the initial idea, this new project had to sound exactly so, dungeon-synth in the 90's spirit, without vocals. These are the first tracks recorded for the Moongates Guardian project. What was waiting for me there I can describe in two words: dungeon-synth! Yes, after reading the following statement from the band on their Bandcamp website, I knew a lot: "The material presented on this album is not new. More epic in their sounds, more towards the regular black metal, what more could you want? I finally decided to go chronologically and listen to Moongates Guardian's first EP. While looking for new atmospheric music that could ease my mind a bit, I came across two Russians who called their project Moongates Guardian and sounded like a more modern version of Summoning. So I literally flee into a nicer corner of my mind where at least nothing can hurt me for a certain time, a necessary break. In between there is the need for mental escapism, in which music like Summoning, Xanthochroid, Dimmu Borgir, or Cradle of Filth play a major role simply because of the epic images that this music is able to create through its orchestration. ![]() Usually it starts in the form of death metal, grindcore and black metal, because so much anger has built up that wants to be let out first, and it usually ends with progressive metal, which helps me to see clearly again. I then process these thoughts a lot with music, so in the end I hear even more music than usual. ![]() Yap, this time has come again and the shit has been repeating itself regularly since I was 13 years old. In a time in which one is plagued by self-doubt and eaten away by disabled thoughts, one is always looking for ways to at least mentally escape from the real world for a while. ![]()
